About Tribe
A church in a town that never sits still.
Our mission
Tribe exists to make the name of Jesus famous in Jackson Hole and to the uttermost bounds of the earth by building strong families, connecting through community, developing servant leaders, and making disciples that will change the world.
Our story
Tribe started with evening services at Shepherd of the Mountains. In a ski town that actually works well. The lifts close around four, and by five you can be in a seat, so we did a load in and load out every week to make it happen.
From there we grew into the Snow King Conference Center, still setting up and tearing down each Sunday. Along the way we even ran a service out of the Saloon at The Virginian, turning a bar into a church one morning at a time. Then COVID hit, and Tribe became a home church for a season, meeting online while the world figured itself out.
During COVID we were able to purchase the Tribe Ministry Center, our first real building, and settled into two Sunday morning services there.
Now, after more than a decade of load in, load out, and learning to be the church wherever we landed, Tribe is in transition again. We’re positioning ourselves to buy a permanent home, and this fall we’re moving to a Sunday evening service at First Baptist Jackson Hole. Right now, while we’re between buildings, we’re gathering outdoors, Sundays at 10am at Powderhorn Park.
It’s been a wild ride. We’re not settled and we’re not lost. We’re a church on the move, headed into a wonderful new season.
What we value
Family
Strong homes come first. Everything else is built on top of them.
Creativity
Worship, music, and storytelling made with real care and craft.
Fun
Church shouldn’t feel like a waiting room. We actually enjoy this.
Servant Leadership
Leaders are grown here, then sent out – locally and globally.
Tribe Missions & TMA
“To the uttermost bounds of the earth” isn’t a line on a wall. Tribe Missions sends teams out, and the Tribe Ministry Academy trains the people who go – right here in the valley.
Leadership
Brian Hunter is our lead pastor. He preaches most Sundays, and you’ll find him before and after service.
